Translation of Informationsbyrån to English

I changed "Information Bureau" to "The Information Office" because on google I found "Information Office" in several paces, whereas "Information Bureau" existed only on wikipedia. --Ezeu 07:44, 11 December 2005 (UTC)

Actually, the original sense of the name was the innocous Inhämtning Birger ("Retrieval /of information/ Birger"), referring to the boss Birger Elmér. This was not known to the jourmalists digging into the affair until many years later though. This article definitely should be rewritten and sourced, IB is as big a part of modern Swedish "secret history" as the Cambridge ring of spies in Britain, and it's had a huge impact on generations of ordinary people, politicians, journalists and intellectuals in the country.Strausszek 01:40, 29 January 2009 (CET)

Terminology

The Swedish expression "personlig integritet" is frequently (like in the report title "Rikets säkerhet och den personliga integriteten") mistranslated "personal integrity" in English, where "privacy" would be a more appropriate term. I find the word "integritet" poorly understood in Swedish public discourse, where it's often sloppily used as synonymous with "privacy" or "confidentiality", whereas the original idea behind the expression is a more complex and vague concept of respect for the identity and individuality of a natural person, not merely a desire to keep one's name and residential address secret, rather than changing the translation myself, I'd like to invite comments on this expression, which I expect to find in a lot of articles concerning privacy issues in Sweden, not just this one.
