What is an XT2?
[edit]Ralf Brown's interrupt list makes frequent reference to an XT2, described as "IBM PC XT 2". Which machine under "Revisions and variants" might that be?
Note that the list has a separate XT286 entry, "IBM PC XT/286", and entries will make reference to one or the other or both, so the list is definitely treating them as separate machines. Sometimes the list will also say something like "XT after 11/8/82" or "XT after 1/10/86", so I'm guessing the list is referring to other XT revisions besides XT, XT2, and XT286. 172.58.114.148 (talk) 01:23, 27 September 2025 (UTC)
- Found a reference to the XT 2 in Byte Magazine Volume 12 Number 12:
- "The PC XT 2 (Model 5160, model = FB, type = 01, BIOS date 01/10/86) [...]"
- Due to the BIOS date, I believe that this article text "In 1986, the 256–640 KB motherboard models were launched, which switched to half-height drives." may be referring to the "XT 2" (or "XT/2" the Byte article is inconsistent). 172.58.114.148 (talk) 02:22, 27 September 2025 (UTC)
