Guérin: what Cristian denominations?!
[edit]Greek Christians, split into Greek orthodox and Melkite?! Melkite in Isr/Pal nowadays means Catholic Melkite, so Orthodox "united", i.e. in communion with Rome, and they are not Greek, except in those parts of their rituals which they've preserved from before recognising the Pope and entering into communion. Ig that was Greek enough for Guérin, then the link should be specifically to Melkite Catholic Church, not the very vague Melkite.
I found "Greek Christians" linked to Antiochian Greek Christians. That's beyond weird. Since the Byzantine period, the vast majority of Orthodox Christians in Palestine are part of the Jerusalem (Greek Orthodox) Patriarchate. Unless Ibillin had/has a community of immigrants from further up north in the Levant who stuck to their Syrian roots and only recognise the Patriarch of Antioch as their Church head, this makes no sense.
I'll leave Guérin's "Greek Christians" w/o link, as in Palestine there seems to be no common term for autocephalous Greek Orthodox and Pope-abiding Melkite denominations, and will link to Melkite Catholic Church for Guérin's (Greek) "Melkites". Pls correct if I'm wrong, especially if there's any umbrella term for the Greek Orthodox and the Melkite Catholic (aka Melkite Byzantine Catholic, still). I'm getting dizzy here... economy section possible improvements
[edit]in the economy section it says Ibillin historically depended on agriculture, especially the growth of sheets and vegetables (most notably cucumbers).
perhaps it was intended to write sheep not sheets , and instead of growth , maybe it is better to write raising or herding sheep , and growing vegetables or cultivating vegetables Boten4 (talk) 09:24, 2 December 2025 (UTC)
