A google search turns up several recent design papers using hybrid ternary codes in the implementation of such diverse things as holographic storage (h-ternary codes used in the page addressing), rf data communications (used as the line code implementation), etc. For something first published only a couple of years ago it seems to be fairly active. It could be considered to be a "recent discovery" but not merely a proposal. 75.140.242.246 (talk) 08:06, 22 February 2010 (UTC)
