Invented?
[edit]MCI had MCImail in the 1980s, I think, which allowed one to put an electronic mail into the system. They would print it at one of their offices near the destination and put it into ordinary mail, coast to coast mail would have been days faster. MCImail also have subscribers a telex number, which was needed for international travel.
There is a page on MCImail on Wikipedia. I have lost access to my regular editor id, but I think that "invented" is a strong word, created might be better since arguably converting an electronic mail to print mail for further delivery was first done, large scale, by MCImail.
My usual id, attached to an ancient e-mail, is Simicich. 2601:6C1:985:2440:7472:4E37:3ED7:853E (talk) 02:40, 9 September 2025 (UTC)
I recovered my e-mail address. In thinking about what was "invented" it amounted to, send e-mail and we will print it. Arguably, mcimail allowed e-mail between clients using bespoke access programs and also allowed e-mail to print mail which was then delivered by postal mail. I am going to edit the article. ~~ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Simicich (talk • contribs) 00:01, 10 September 2025 (UTC)
