The actual reason for the H1 Discontinuation. I've heard from a good source [who doesn't want to be named] the actual reason for the H1 discontinuation was to free up production capacity for AM General to fulfill government contract. One could speculate once orders stop due to a lack of defense spending on the HMMWV platform, there would be free capacity on the production side for more H1's. The H1 uses brake calipers from the old AMC Eagle? So, theoretically, if someone were looking for new brake calipers for an Eagle, they could go to a GM/Hummer dealer and order brake calipers for the H1 to fit an Eagle?

Answer: Yes. However, most auto stores carry the AMC Eagle brake calipers new and in stock. And you'll pay far less for the new AMC Eagle calipers at the local NAPA, Auto Zone, CSK Auto, etc.

Emission Discussion

The more-stringent US EPA/CARB emission regulations which took effect in 2007 apply to vehicles with gasoline and Diesel engines alike. The article as written suggests that gasoline engines were not included. Under the 2007 regulation changes, vehicles over 8,500 pounds GVWR are subject to more-lenient emission regulations. Ford, GM & Chrysler were able to continue offering Diesel engines in trucks & sport-futility vehicles. It's very doubtful that the improvements in emission regulations were solely responsible for the Hummer H1's discontinuation.

A few items to clarify for those who want to say otherwise. 1) GM doesn't build the H1. AM General does. 2) The 6.5L diesel passes current emissions. The current engines used from 1992 to 2004 all pass the SAE J 1667 "snap-idle" test that most states require to have light duty and medium duty diesel go through. 3) The 6.6L Duramax also passes emissions. 4) Up until 1999, trucks that used the 6.5L diesel did NOT require the use of a catalytic converter. AM General did install one, but emissions testing did not require the use of one until 1999.

There was a picture of an "electric"H1 but it was simply a Photoshopped image of an old-school V8 powered Hummer H1 with the iconic seven-slot grille deleted.Conclusion:the image is a HOAX.But it would be nice if GM decided to revive the H1 nameplate and start manufacturing V8-powered H1s. Engine manufacturer conflicts

In the infobox, Detroit diesel (6.2L, 6.5L, 6.5 turbo) engines are mentioned. In the Specifications section, those same engines are classified as GM Diesel engines. Which one is true? 67.201.191.224 (talk) 22:18, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

While were on engines here. 350 Gas was a engine option? What year? I know 6.2 and 6.5 engines were swapped out often in favor of 350's. But I don't recall a single year where the 350 was option.--Dana60Cummins (talk) 21:59, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

Manufacturer

The original manufacturer in the nineties was AM General. By the time that "H1" was appended to the name, there might have been a manufacturer that was literally named "Hummer" but that wasn't always the case. Thank you for pointing out the error. "The vehicle first was marketed to the public as the Hummer in 1992 by AM General, which also makes the military version. Under a 1999 deal, GM bought marketing rights to the Hummer name and called the vehicle the Hummer H1." It continued to be manufactured by AM General, but marketed by GM until the 2006 model year. Why not a single statistic shown for curb weight of the H1
