Epitaph

[edit]

Accurately the epitaph reads "Mourn not for Adonais," a quotation from Shelley's Adonais. I've made this change. Emporostheoros (talk) 12:30, 4 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Small comment

The words "He supervised, partially, John Beazley and Alan Blakeway" seems strange. Beazley was 17 years older than Payne, and was already Professor at Oxford. "Supervised" may have different meanings, but it seems much more likely that Beazley supervised Payne. Stephen Robertson (talk) 13:51, 28 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

It was definitely wrong for Beazley: I've found a stopgap source for now. Blakeway was a bit younger, but that wasn't actually supported by the cited source either, so I've hedged it a bit. UndercoverClassicist T·C 17:10, 22 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
