Birth year

[edit]

I can confirm, based on the original parish records (available online through the National Archives) that he was born in 1888.

The birth records for Sorsele record a Hugo Leander, born on 5 June and baptized on 9 June 1888, son of "B[onde]n [=farmer] Nils Edvard Andersson and H[ustr]u [=wife] Eva Greta Gustafsd[otte]r, living at Blomåker 219. Source: Parish records from Sorsele C:4 (1866-1890) (the volume is unpaginated but it can be found under the year and date).

Another record, a husförhörslängd (Household Examination Record) from 1886 to 1895 lists the entire family in Blomåker / Blattnicksele ("Blomåker" is struck, and judging from a modern online map it seems to be a part of Blattnicksele), with the father Nils Edvard Andersson being given the added surname of Blomquist, inserted later (or so it seems). The entire family is said to have moved to "Dakota i N. Amerika" in 1892, except the oldest daughter (born in 1872), who is said to have gone there in 1891.
