Aryanisation references
[edit]Burda has won awards from German-Jewish groups for his work on the subject of WWII reparations, so, to this one reader, the reference about him being the son of a Nazi and benefitting from Aryanisation seems like a deliberate slur. Both statements are factually correct but they are also culturally loaded with an insult that does not fit the man. His father was a businessman first and an NS Party member second, and then only for reasons of business pragmatism. Regarding Aryanisation, there is a remarkable story of friendship between the Burda and Reiss families that should be told here.
I propose to move the reference to his father and to Aryanisation to a new section that describes Burda's family in full but also details Burda Jnr's philanthropic work on the subject of war reparations.

Infobox birthplace
[edit]- For a long time the infobox birthplace was "Heidelberg, Germany". I have twice reverted Helper201's edits changing it to "Heidelberg, Nazi Germany". Helper201 has cited Template:Infobox person#TemplateData - under "birth place" - "Use the name of the birthplace at the time of birth" in support of this change. Rather than editwar, I thought it best to raise this matter on the talkpage.
- There never has been any such country as Nazi Germany, this is simply the Wikipedia article name as it is the most commonly used term - the actual English name would be German Reich, German Empire or Third Reich. If we look at other people born in this period, Gerhard Schröder (born 1944) has simply "Germany". Peter Handke (born 1942) has "German Reich (now Austria)", and there was extensive discussion about this at Talk:Peter Handke/Archive 1 and Wikipedia:Biographies_of_living_persons/Noticeboard/Archive295#Peter_Handke_(2nd_take).
- There are obvious BLP policy issues for anyone to have the word "Nazi" under their infobox photo. Those BLP concerns are more important than the infobox template documentation and I propose going back to the original formulation of "Heidelberg, Germany". Does anyone have any objections? - I would be fine with "German Reich", "Greater German Reich", or "Third Reich". Referring to other articles is - with all due respect - WP:OTHERSTUFF. The only mention of "Nazi" is in the context of the place name of "Nazi Germany"; it says nothing about the person themselves. To imply this says anything about the person is taking the word out of context. Helper201 (talk) 22:02, 9 February 2025 (UTC)
