Conflict of interest
[edit]This article seems to be getting a periodic COI rewrite every year or so about how House of Hackney is "the very definition of riotous colour and print" or "renowned for ripping up the interiors rule book and conjuring iconic prints" or something. Can you please stop doing that? Lord Belbury (talk) 16:02, 14 July 2022 (UTC)
Proposed updates — COI declared

I work for House of Hackney and am disclosing a conflict of interest per WP:COI. I have a financial connection to the subject of this article. I am proposing the following factual updates, all supported by independent third-party citations, and welcome review by uninvolved editors.
1. Infobox: Products and Services The current "Luxury British goods" and "Interior design and homeware made in England" descriptions are outdated. The brand now sells an apothecary collection and offers herbalism services. Proposed: "Interior and apothecary goods" and "Interior design and herbalism".
2. Intro paragraph Propose updating the description from "luxury interiors label" to "luxury design house" to better reflect the brand's current scope, and adding mention of the Mother Nature & Future Generations Directorship (already cited in the body at ref 9).
3. Trematon Castle The current text says Gormley and Royle "opened a bed and breakfast" at Trematon Castle. The more accurate description is that they "took on the stewardship" of the castle. The ELLE Decoration source (ref 6) supports this.
4. B Corp recertification The article notes the 2021 B Corp certification but not the January 2025 recertification with a score of 109 points. Source: B Corp Directory, https://www.bcorporation.net/en-us/find-a-b-corp/company/house-of-hackney/
5. Awards section The Queen's Award mention is vague and tagged [citation needed]. Propose expanding to: Queen's Award for Enterprise for International Trade (2022), King's Award for Sustainability (2026). Sources: King's Awards Magazine https://www.kingsawardsmagazine.com/?s=house+of+hackney&post_type=winner-post
Also propose adding: the brand is the subject of a Harvard Business School case study (2026). Source: https://www.hbs.edu/faculty/Pages/item.aspx?num=68717
6. Book publication In June 2026, founder Frieda Gormley published In the Company of Nature (Chelsea Green Publishing, 16 June 2026). Source: https://www.chelseagreen.com/product/in-the-company-of-nature/
I am happy to make these edits directly or for an uninvolved editor to do so. Hicraik (talk) 12:05, 29 May 2026 (UTC)

- Thanks so much for reviewing these and your direction. These have all been submitted (with the exception of the book publication). Hicraik (talk) 15:12, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
- I've restored the context that Gormley and Royle are running Trematon Castle as a bed and breakfast, as it's a business context and it's not that clear what the sentence is saying, otherwise. The cited source ("House of Hackney are inviting guests to stay at their revamped Cornish castle") is written primarily about the hotel aspect of it, rather than the couple's simple "stewardship" of the property. - Hi Belbury, not all options are available as a B&B booking - but I am very happy to reword. Hicraik (talk) 15:25, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
