Datacenter Move

The datacenter move is not notable enough to this article or company that it requires its own paragraph and is written in an unprofessional tone that is not fitting of an encyclopedic article. Whosten 00:06, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
Most of the text of the data center move is close pharaphrase to the emails Hostway sent customers.
I can only imagine that those who remove the comments are Hostway or Affinity employees or associates. Seeing as you wish to remove my relevant, accurate content; I have no doubt that you don't like the tone. Why don't you share your version with a tone more appropriate to this encyclopedia. The content was not removed, you didn't read the article. It was revised in an encyclopedic tone and added to the paragraph about the acquisition. As a reminder if you write in the talk page in the future please sign it. I have rolled back the revision and removed commentary from the top of the page Whosten 23:31, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
Try reading the eweek article. "Leaves Clients in the Dark" ... "It's unconscionable" ..."completely silent. They are not answering their technical support number, nor are they replying to e-mail.". Or webmasterworld: "When Moving A Datacenter Goes Bad" ... "Well, over 36 hours later and only 60% of the servers are up according to their own numbers". Data Center Move
[edit]On July 27th Hostway relocated an Affinity data center from Miami Florida to Hostway's Tampa Florida datacenter. Customers were notified by email that "The outage time on each server is expected to be 12-15 hours." Though "some 400 customers to be offline for days" according to [eWeek]. PMTPA journey of links; article ought to mention PowerMedium
[edit]Okay so I was reading the article Ping and on there there's a reference to 'rr.pmtpa.wikimedia.org' so I get curious and google PMTPA to see what it stands for; no luck. All I get is references to similar Wikimedia URLs; a long while later I find http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_servers which tells me it stands for "Hostway (formerly PowerMedium) in Tampa, Florida." [emphasis added] Then I come here and there's not even a mention of PowerMedium, and it doesn't have its own article either; so I think that some mention should be made of the fact that Hostway owns PowerMedium; or at least http://www.powermedium.com/ claims it's "A Hostway Company." 207.65.109.10 (talk) 20:24, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
Hostway is now a NetNation brand
[edit]This article requires significant revision. As is, it appears that Hostway swallowed-up NetNation. Possibly that is true in some sense. However, as is now, Hostway has ended-up as one of six NetNation brands, per:
- Hostway — this page(?) — shared hosting services
- Yola — AI-driven website builder
- myhosting.com — customized VPS solutions
- HostMySite.com — entry-level website and email solutions
- SolVPS — affordable virtual-dedicated hosting
- DomainPeople — ICANN accredited domain registrar
Of these, only Hostway and Yola have their own Wikipedia pages. I am not sure whether all six a notable to the extent that there should be a page for each — but I would expect that, as the parent company, NetNation should have a page.
