Phylactery

This appears to be the same thing as a Phylactery in D&D, should this not be mentioned in the article? 90.230.54.138 (talk) 00:22, 23 December 2009 (UTC)

It looks as if the soul fragment is a Lich, contained within a magical object as Phylactery. --RichardVeryard (talk) 03:35, 22 January 2010 (UTC)

I don't know of any other examples but I'd imagine the concept of a magic user achieving immortality in this fashion is a very old one in fantasy stories. I doubt either Rowling or Gygax were the first to come up with the idea. --EminentCluster (talk) 16:39, 12 April 2013 (UTC)

ISTM this one was created not with anybody's murder, but with the attempted murder of Harry. But still, best to leave the table as it is at the moment.
