Horapollo is the English name for the Greek name Ὡραπόλλων (Horapollon). Germans (say) call him Horapollon. I therefore agree that this entry should be merged with entry Horapollon. Nescio vos (talk) 13:39, 26 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Menouthis

[edit]

the failed verification notice concerning Horapollo the younger teaching at a school in Menouthis is justified since it is not mentioned in the Suda entry wihich is the only citation given. It must come from other sources such as Damascius' Life of Isadore or possibly by the surviving papyrus letter we have from Horapollo's own hand, a very great rarity indeed. This could be cleared up by consulting the entry on Horapollo in vol. 4 of the Coptic Encyclopedia (which is pay-walled) or a recent article in Russian which is probably the proximate source of the claim (it is made in the English abstract). I cannot read Russian, but here is a link to a PDF: https://pifk.magtu.ru/doc/2016/2/152-162.pdf.
