Not an enclave?

[edit]

Saying the Hopi reservation is an enclave inside Arizona does not seem to make sense to me since it is a different boundary type than Arizona, one is a state another is a reservation. Enclaves and exclaves have to be judged in comparison to other boundaries of the same category. Examples include the country San Marino inside the country Italy or the city Baldwin, Florida inside the city Jacksonville, Florida. If two boundaries of different categories are to be compared to one another, virtually every U.S. cities would be an enclave of the county it is in, sort of defeating the purpose of the category.

Therefore, I am going to remove this article from the category Category:Enclaves in the United States since it does not apply; being Bold here. SamuelNelsonGISP (talk) 17:54, 13 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Disregard, I made dumb assumptions. I have no clue how I overlooked the obvious thing to check, whether there was an Indian Reservation which the Hopi was wholly within... Leaving the above post up despite it being embarassing. SamuelNelsonGISP (talk) 17:56, 13 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
