Sourcing and name pages v.s. disambiguation pages

[edit]

@Wire723: Name pages require WP:SIGCOV level sourcing. This was converted to a human name disambiguation page because it was entirely unreferenced. This was done to avoid deleting the page as disambiguation pages do not have to have references. I am not opposed to converting this page back to a name page if WP:GNG level sourcing on the name is added. If it remains unreferenced though, then it is in danger of being a WP:PROD/WP:AFD target. It is best leaving it a disambiguation page until multiple sources with in-depth coverage of the name can be added and cited in the article. Best.4meter4 (talk) 15:23, 3 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

Please see 'Choosing the proper template" at Template:Human name disambiguation. If sourcing is an issue, many thousands of name list pages are incorrect. -- Wire723 (talk) 15:56, 3 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
@Wire723: It is true that the lack of sourcing in name pages is a systemic problem. Lately at AFD we have been doing conversions to disambiguation pages in order to avoid deletion per WP:ATD. It's an imperfect work around.4meter4 (talk) 15:58, 3 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
