Reason for being

[edit]

Does this article need to exist? We have Jeolla, after all. I have a hard time seeing how this can extend much beyond a dicdef. -- Visviva 12:47, 25 May 2005 (UTC)Reply

@Visviva: Jeolla Province(ko:전라도) is historical administrative division, and Honam(ko:호남 지방) is region. --ㅂㄱㅇ (talk) (Bieup Giyeok Ieung) 09:44, 29 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Merge to Jeolla Province proposal

[edit]

This article seems to have the exact same subject as the article I am proposing a merge to. The main difference is whether or not the Jeju province should be included in the region or not, although I admit that I'm unsure how significant the inclusion of the Jeju province is to this region. The destination article is a start class, while this article remains a stub, which is why I suggest merging in this direction. Gramix13 (talk) 05:22, 26 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Oppose - The Jeolla Province article is about the historical and formal administrative division of Joseon dynasty Korea. This article deals with the vernacular and cultural region encompassing the two Jeollas.
The two subjects are independently notable; Honam is still a widely used regional term in modern-day South Korean society and politics. 00101984hjw (talk) 04:18, 27 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Closing with no merge given the uncontested objection and no support. Klbrain (talk) 21:50, 2 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
