Factual error about Collier's service

[edit]

This statement: " Collier’s master Howell Hinds left for the war, bringing Collier along to serve as an aide" is patently and verifiably false. Hinds told Collier to stay behind. Collier ran away from the plantation to find Hinds and join him. He enlisted in the Confederate Army in Texas as a soldier not an aide and was a distinguished sharpshooter.[1] He received a pension from the State of Mississippi as a Confederate War Veteran.[2] DrHenley (talk) 14:07, 7 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
