Oldest Road-over-road bridge?

I find the claim that noone had ever built a road bridge over a road before 1864-9 to be a bit far-fetched. No Roman or Chinese city had hills and a need to build a 'road' bridge from one high point to another? Inca cities got any bridges that carry road traffic? What do you call a 'road' anyway? Anything wide enough for a cart? I have had a look via google and can't find anything... anyone out there got a history of road bridges or something? Any copies of a speech from the day, or perhaps the bill of parliament approving the thing? I bet that'd have such a claim were it to be true. Complete nonsense - without even looking, I can tell you that Highgate Archway (carried Hornsey Lane over the Great North Road, on the site of what's now Suicide Bridge) was built in 1813, decades before Holborn Viaduct. – iridescent 13:08, 11 March 2010 (UTC)
