HOFELE GmbH (formerly HOFELE-Design GmbH) is a German automotive customisation company that specialises in luxury refinement of Mercedes-Benz passenger cars. It operates under the brand name HOF Manufaktur and is an officially recognised contractual partner of Mercedes-Benz AG. History[edit]The company was founded in 1983 by brothers Martin and Michael Hofele in Donzdorf, Germany, under the name HOFELE-Design GmbH. It began as a developer of automotive accessories for Volkswagen and Mazda before focusing exclusively on Mercedes-Benz vehicles. Over time, HOFELE gained recognition for its design innovations and high-quality craftsmanship. In 2018, HOFELE-Design was appointed as a contractual partner of Mercedes-Benz AG for the official tuning and customisation of the brand's passenger car lineup.[rewrite 1] In December 2022, the company relocated to Sindelfingen, adjacent to the Mercedes-Benz development center.[rewrite 2] Insolvency and Relaunch[edit]In November 2023, HOFELE-Design GmbH filed for insolvency. In early 2024, the company’s assets were acquired by a Swiss investor group. It was restructured and relaunched as HOFELE GmbH, with around 35 employees retained.[rewrite 3] The company also introduced a new brand identity: HOF Manufaktur, positioning itself as an atelier for tailor-made luxury vehicles. Products and Services[edit]HOFELE customises a range of Mercedes-Benz models but mostly the G-Class. Services include:
All modifications are developed in-house at the Sindelfingen headquarters, which includes departments for carbon, paint, leather, electronics and final assembly. Certification[edit]HOFELE is listed by SAE International as a recognised vehicle manufacturer and holds a World Manufacturer Identifier (WMI) granted by the German Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA).[rewrite 4] Global Reach[edit]Vehicles and services are offered globally, with key markets in Europe, the Middle East, China, Japan and the United States.
