The article was so biased

Wallachians are a population in Wallachia, part of the Vlach ethnic group while Romanians are the citizens of Romania.

Vlach is not a name for Romanians, it is a name for East/Balkan Roman populations (the First Russian Chronicle uses the word Vlach to talk about Romance speaking people).

The name Romanian exists only from 19th century so such population could not have existed along Tatars in the eastern part of Moldova.

Bessarabia is the name used by Russia for East Moldova (it’s wrong to say it annexed Bessarabia in a time when “Bessarabia” did not exist).

The official census in the Russian Empire accounted the Romance speaking people (Moldovans and Wallachians) as a total.

The language spoken in Transnitria has never been Romanian, but Moldovan; the period of Romanianization was too short to change the native Moldovan language.

Romania was an occupier of East Moldova so in 1940 the territories have been liberated.

Moldavia is the name of West Moldova - the territory under Romanian occupation - and Moldavian is the name for Moldovans in Romania.

The Russian peacekeeping forces have never done anything but preserve peace.

President of the PMR

@Super Dromaeosaurus Why are you changing the text from President of the PMR, to President of Transnistria? President of the PMR is the official title of the position - it is not biased to refer to Smirnov as that.

Also I'm wondering why you changed it from "The Soviet Union liberated the area in spring of 1944" to "The Soviet Union regained the area in spring of 1944". As per the precedent set on the article History of Kiev, when the Red Army entered the city (or territory in our case), it was liberated. Rai56Z (talk) 23:01, 25 October 2025 (UTC)

I don't think there's much to say about the president issue. The respective article is President of Transnistria, so I used the term that is most familiar in Wikipedia.

The next sentence after the one where "liberated" was written speaks of persecution of ethnic minorities. Let's not invest much time investing semantics and agree to leave a perfectly neutral term, rather than pointy language. Super Ψ Dro 02:16, 26 October 2025 (UTC)

I don't see why you feel the need to change it. The terms are interchangeable and it would be obvious to anyone what it means, as at the top of the article it says "Transnistria, officially the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (PMR)".

Tiraspol was liberated from Nazi-Romanian rule by the Red Army. It was recognized internationally as Soviet territory, and was Soviet territory even before Moldova was annexed in 1940. The Romanian occupiers committed horrible war crimes against the local population. The source about the persecution of ethnic Vlachs speaks about Moldavia (region between the Carpathians and the Dniester), which Pridnestrovie isn't even a part of (with the exclusion of Bender, which I could not find mentioned in the article). I am not going to get entangled in an argument about semantics. I will simply state that totalitarian Soviet rule brought much pain to the region as well, and this is indeed covered in the cited source. Not only after 1944 (1946–1947 famine, 1949 deportations; p. 49), but also before 1940 (1932–1933 deportations, 1930s famines, 1937–1938 purges; p. 40). According to the source, Transnistria was only exempt from the 1941 deportations that the rest of Moldova suffered (p. 41). Page 43 also features the following sentence: Stalinist terror against the local Moldavian population recommenced immediately after the Red Army reached the River Dniester in March 1944. I am not going to agree to the restoration of POV language so I suggest you to seek dispute resolution mechanisms like WP:3O.

As for the president issue, I don't have as strong of an opinion here, you can restore it. Super Ψ Dro 14:15, 27 October 2025 (UTC)

POV rewriting

Rai56Z, refrain from conducting again a WP:POV rewrite like this one . The rewrite in question removed some sourced information (including some present at the Modern Era section, which you completely removed) and selectively chose to remove some unsourced information (e.g. that describing the illegal presence of Russian forces in Moldova, or about Soviet-era repression) while also adding some unsourced pieces of your liking.

There were also neutrality issues with the language (using "Pridnestrovie" for the 18th century is a clear anachronism; describing the 1918 unification of Bessarabia and Romania as "occupation and annexation" but the Soviet recapture of 1944 as "liberation"). Choice of toponyms was also clear: changing "Tighina" to "Bender" but keeping "Akkerman" next to it the same way; changing "Dubăsari" to "Dubossary". I don't see a reason to keep these edits with such a clear POV. It is not the burden of others to filter out your fair improvements from your edits and revert the problematic pieces. The burden is on you.

This article is really low-quality. The last thing it needs a bad-faithed selective rewriting like yours. Please refrain from this again. It'd probably be wiser to remove all unsourced information, as well as that information sourced to low-quality sources. But frankly, I am not even sure we need this article in the first place.
