Not a dab page
[edit]This is not really a dab page item, but needs to explain the basic concept of historicity. There is plenty written on the subject in WP:RS sources, and I would support turning the page into an article rather than a dab. History2007 (talk) 16:40, 6 June 2012 (UTC)

Recorded history vs prehistory
[edit]There are good sources for including prehistory in historicity. e.g., "The historicity of the objects associated with Neolithic man is already established by Collingwood's discussion of 'historical reality'." (The Death of Prehistory, edited by Peter R. Schmidt, Stephen A. Mrozowski, Oxford University Press, Nov 21, 2013, page 6).
Further, some definitions of historicity claim that it is a dimension of all natural phenomena that take place in space and time. , although, as a practical matter, most scholars limit it to a human dimension.
As there are no citations supporting the claim that historicity relates to "the quality of being part of recorded history, as opposed to prehistory," I'm going to remove this claim from the article. Fearofreprisal (talk) 09:14, 14 August 2014 (UTC)
Mormon Historicity
[edit]I'm looking for some unbiased input on how some of the articles on fictional Mormon figures should begin. I made edits to Captain Moroni, Nephites, and Moroni (Book of Mormon) to make it clear that these are not historical figures and places, but items contained within Mormon folklore. I've been reverted on these edits. Can someone weigh in please? JimKaatFan (talk) 05:07, 2 July 2020 (UTC)
Historicization
[edit]Hi, there is an article Historicization which —as I read it— is about a literary process. I am not at ease with the text but being a non-native speaker of English I am not sure what to do about it. Is the title even correct English?
I added a hatnote ''This article is about a literary process. For the general concept of historicity versus mythology, see Historicity, but is that to the point? Besides, opposing historicity to mythology doesn't feel good but I couldn't think of a better phrase.
Anyway shouldn't the Historicity article link to Historicization? →bertux 09:18, 5 October 2025 (UTC)
