CTRL or London St Pancras Highspeed?

Is this article about the piece of physical infrastructure known as the Channel Tunnel Rail Link, or is it about the company known as London St Pancras Highspeed? It currently seems to be conflating the two things.

Phase 2 in 2016?

The "Building Cost" section notes "Its phase one was completed in 2007 and phase two in 2016." and cites First Interim Evaluation of the Impacts of High Speed 1 but the only mention of 2016 in the pdf is about regeneration around Stratford International. Page 18 of the pdf says "Phase 1 of HS1 from the Channel Tunnel to Fawkham Junction opened in September 2003" which is different to the 2007 phase 1 in the article. Page 40 of the pdf point to HS1 Phase 2 being between 2006 Q3 and Q4. This is possibly when construction finished but before the line opened to passengers. Page 93 of the pdf says there was a "phased opening of the route" and "Section 1 opened in 2003 between the Channel Tunnel and north Kent terminating at Waterloo. Section 2 opened in 2007 between a newly built Ebbsfleet station in Kent and London St Pancras." Lack of info about costs and benefits

The article doesn't tell you what the cost was or who paid it. It also doen't tell you what the economic benefits that were expected. It seems like a pure vanity project, which has not eVen been useful as a bad example ~2026-17029-13 (talk) 14:30, 26 May 2026 (UTC)
