This section has no business being in the article (in its current form anyway), as the formula presented therein presumes the line to be described in terms of a linear equation, not the Hesse normal form; nor does the section (or the page, for that matter) include information on how to derive the linear equation from the Hesse normal form. The section's contents should therefore be moved to the Line (geometry) article, where they would make much more sense.

(Granted, the formula might be of some use to convert a linear equation to Hesse normal form, specifically to compute the d parameter; but for that application, the formula can be simplified since the point in question is (0;0), reducing the equation to d²=c²/(a²+b²) if I'm not mistaken (or d²=c² if (a,b) has unit length).
