That supposed "coat of arms" for Henry Samson

[edit]

Is there any evidence that Henry Samson was actually armigerous? An image purporting to be his "coat of arms" appears on this page, but no source is given.

To be clear, Henry Samson has one of the longest proven ancestries of any of the Mayflower passengers, but merely being the great-times-five grandchild of an armigerous person doesn't mean you personally have a "coat of arms." A lot of claims of this sort have been made over the years on behalf of early settlers in New England, a few of them correct and the vast majority of them spurious. Wikipedia should not be displaying material like this without reference to a plausible source. pnh (talk) 19:15, 2 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
