sad detail

[edit]

After the fatal accident the race went on and wasn´t stopped. A tarp was put over the demolished car, the body of Koinigg still in the seat and his Head (still in the helmet) behind his body. Only after the race his corpse was salvaged out of the wreck.

This kind of detail is ghoulish and totally unnecessary. Anyone wishing to see this stuff can find it anytime through other channels. It serves no useful purpose and has no place on Wikipedia. WP:OM Flanker235 (talk) 10:34, 14 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Helmuth or Helmut?

[edit]

A couple of times now, editors have changed the first name from "Helmuth" to "Helmut", with edit summaries along the lines of "his name is Helmut not Helmuth". Various sources spell his first name as follows:

motorsportmemorial.org uses both spellings, and makes reference to an Autosport forum thread (http://forums.autosport.com/topic/201162-koinigg-helmut-or-helmuth/), which no longer exists at that address but which I believe was merged into this thread: https://forums.autosport.com/topic/70242-helmut-koinigg-merged/, which discusses the spelling, particularly from this post onwards. The German-language version of this article uses Helmut and cites several German-language sources using that spelling. That and the spelling on his own grave strongly suggest that should be the one we go with. Tvx1 08:56, 5 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
I've moved the article and updated all the links. DH85868993 (talk) 11:41, 12 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
