Death: found unconscious or unresponsive or...?

I am aware these descriptions aren't quite mutually exclusive, but they still carry different sets of connotations. The use of "unconscious" instead of some other wordings led me to believe, initially, that he was certainly somewhat alive when he was found, until I read the rest of the paragraphs. Both sources for the first paragraph describe him as "found dead" after all.
While sure a dead person is pretty much certainly unconscious, I never heard of a dead person being defined as unconscious. I hope I'm not splitting hairs too far. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.192.99.159 (talk) 02:51, 10 February 2021 (UTC)

"Music video director" in lead

Per WP:ROLEBIO, the lead sentence should describe the person as they are commonly described in reliable sources. I don't believe he is commonly described as a "music video director" in reliable sources. All but one of the songs he's directed the music videos for aren't even independently notable. Chess play level

I've removed though the level of his play has sometimes been exaggerated from the article per WP:OR. Ian Rogers' tweet disputing Ledger's skills fails WP:UNDUE, while Joel Benjamin only noted that Ledger's play level could have been exaggerated. The ref itself contained phrasing that did not cite reliable sources or support any content, as nothing is said in Wikipedia's voice about what his play level was. It has been claimed that he was Western Australian junior chess champion–the article does not say that he held this title, so there is no need to include this quote. Claims that he was near grandmaster strength are certainly an exaggeration–no source says this. KyleJoan^talk 04:04, 22 October 2021 (UTC)

His level of play certainly does get exaggerated in the press from time to time, but I take your point about answering arguments which are not in the article, so won't dispute your removal of the reference which quotes both Rogers and Benjamin.

However I do dispute you removing the Rogers quote from the current footnote 48, because that is there as a balance to this quote: "Heath was very close to being on the grandmasters level... he intended to get his grandmaster rating before he started shooting the picture". Even though it is not "in Wikipedia's voice", the way the statement is uncritically quoted makes it seem (in my opinion) that Wikipedia is presenting it as accurate, or at least plausible. But it is not plausible. And the problem is that it is not obviously implausible to a non-chess-expert. BTW Rogers is a respected chess journalist, so qualifies as a reliable source on the subject of chess.

Anyway, an alternative solution is to remove that reference altogether. It seems unnecessary since the sentence in question already has two other cites. Adpete (talk) 11:44, 22 October 2021 (UTC)

But "Heath was very close..." is not what this article says. It is what a source (News.com.au) says an interviewee (Allan Scott) told them, so not even the source says it in their editorial voice. That said, the point of that ref is simply to verify the planned adaptation of The Queen's Gambit and not anything level-related, so why not just remove the "quote" parameter from the ref? Inaccuracy

Under the section on his death, the article states that CPR was unable to revive him. CPR doesn't revive, so that line should be removed. Instead saying that CPR was administered, and then continuing to the next line where it states that paramedics arrived and were unable to revive him. Baconaetor (talk) 23:40, 25 January 2023 (UTC)

 Not done: 'revived' is a generic, vague and colloquial term (also used by RS) that properly conveys the meaning of the sentence here. If the sentence said paramedics attempted to "resurrect him from the dead", then I would understand your concern that this might be a clinically questionable choice of words but this isn't the case here. it states...with his ashes interred later in a family plot at Karrakatta Cemetery, next to two of his grandparents. This is incorrect. We have no record of Heath Ledger's ashes being interred at Karrakatta Cemetery and there is no memorial. We have many international visitors making the trek to Karrakatta Cemetery based on the information they read on Wiki only to find they have wasted their time. Can you please remove this information. The People story cited says he was "expected to be buried" at Karrakatta. The Metropolitan Cemeteries Board record cited states he was cremated at Fremantle with nothing about the ultimate disposition of the ashes. Agreed. Difficult to prove the negative though. I'm going to amend to just say the ashes were removed from Fremantle for interment at an unspecified location. If we get into the realms of "there was speculation the ashes would be interred at Karrakatta, but they weren't" the first part is citable, the second isn't. Oscar statuette possession

Towards the end of the Legacy section, it states regarding his Oscar trophy that Ledger’s daughter Matilda “would not gain full ownership of the statuette until her eighteenth birthday in 2023.” Are there any updated sources which can confirm or refute whether this happened? 38.27.26.133 (talk) 23:54, 27 June 2024 (UTC)
