It has been a while since this article has been reviewed so I took a look and noticed lots of uncited statements, including entire paragraphs. The article should be split into three separate articles: vertebrate heart, human heart and invertebrate heart. The preamble summarizes information about human heart and doesn't cover other animals.

As I think, the preamble about the vertebrate heart should describe basic principles of heart functioning, the differences between the animal classes and the evolution of the vertebrate heart (the most important information as per Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Lead section). One of the main aspects of an article about the vertebrate heart is its evolution (), but the current article doesn't cover this aspect of the vertebrate heart.

An article about invertebrate heart can describe invertebrate heart diseases (). Trying to summarize information about human, vertebrate, and invertebrate heart diseases might lead to a big mess and a possible original research (Wikipedia:No original research), unless a comparative review source exists. Massive human/vertebrate bias

Current intro/definition: "The heart is a muscular organ found in humans and other animals. This organ pumps blood through the blood vessels."

Blood and circulatory vessels are not definitive to hearts. This definition is clearly a leftover from the merge of "human heart" into "heart". The introductory section should be rewritten to not exclude the variety across Bilateria. Overall there should be a section on the biological features of all hearts, before the sections about specifically human hearts. I'm surprised "human heart" was merged here when there is so much human-specific information, like cardiovascular disease topics, that feels entirely over-specific for a supposed top level article on an organ that is found in so many and varied forms, and that drowns out the non-human or non-vertebrate relevant information. If they were merged because the general "Heart" was in such a sorry state, the solution should have been to improve on "Heart", not slap "Human heart" on top and pretend that was an improvement. --Pitke (talk) 15:42, 11 February 2026 (UTC)
