I'd like to organize the article as follows:

  • fake or overblown health scares (where all and sundry agree there was little or no risk)
  • genuine announcements of threats to health (like the tobacco and smoking link, long denied by industry)
  • cases where the jury's still out (camps have solidified on polar opposite viewpoints)
