The pronouns presently used do not reflect Marcelin's use and as set forth are confusing. May I suggest that when Marcelin identified as a man that the male pronouns be used and after he began to identify as a woman that female pronouns be used. Adopting this usage would better reflect the way Marcelin lived his life. For example, the article notes that Bonds may have been murdered because "Marcelin did not want her to be with other men." "Other men" makes no sense while using feminine pronouns for Marcelin. At the time Marcelin identified as a man, nethertheless, all the pronouns are feminine. I agree it's confusing, but switching pronouns all the time would be confusing too. It might be better just to go over the article, pick out the confusing bits, and clarify them individually by just re-phrasing them. So like you might say "Marcelin did not want her girlfriend to be with anyone else".-~~ ~2026-25183-39 (talk) 17:21, 24 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
Per MOS:GENDERID, we use the subject's most recently expressed name/pronoun preference throughout the entirety of the article. In this case we refer to her consistently with she/her pronouns and as Marceline Harvey (or simply Harvey per MOS:SURNAME). Agree with the TA's reply above, if that verbiage becomes confusing at point, those ambiguous parts can be adjusted for clarity (without deviating from MOS:GENDERIDᴸᵃᶠᶠʸTaffer💬(they/she)17:30, 24 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
User:LaffyTaffer can I ask what this is based on? The most recent reporting from last week states: "Before the trial began, Marcelin insisted he be referred to as Harvey, then clarified, 'Well, Mr. Harvey, if you don’t mind.'" That article uses male pronouns although it states Harvey "has identified as both male and female over the years". ITBF📢02:02, 25 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
Wasn't aware of this, thanks. I dont have any familiarity with the subject past my edits to the article. I had been under the impression that the subject is a trans woman.
Regardless, I'm of the opinion that we should stick to one name and set of pronouns consistently to avoid confusion. No opinion on which name/pronouns considering my evident ignorance, though it might be warranted to include an efn or something similar to explain the fluidity of the subject's identity. ᴸᵃᶠᶠʸTaffer💬(they/she)02:21, 25 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
I changed his name and grammatical gender to masculine per GENDERID and Meko (2026) ("Mr. Marcelin told the court that he identifies as a man."). Rebbing23:44, 19 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

If this is not the optimal place to discuss this, what is?
If this person flip-flopped through his life on who or what he "identified" with, who cares? Why is Wikipedia so preoccupied with the concept of "identity" versus biological reality?
The reason to raise this point here is because this article demonstrates the absurdity of Wikipedia's policy.
Delete this comment and you only prove the transgender takeover of Wikipedia. KHarbaugh (talk) 12:28, 10 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
If I might be permitted to amplify on that:
The salient point is that a biological male committed those crimes.
If he had claimed to be Napoleon Bonaparte or Jesus Christ, would Wikipedia have endorsed those claims? So why should Wikipedia endorse his claim to be a woman? KHarbaugh (talk) 14:51, 10 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
They didn’t say anything distasteful. A biological male is responsible of the crimes. That’s a matter of fact. It’s inappropriate for you to threaten other editors. ~2026-29626-88 (talk) 19:43, 16 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
