Revertions

[edit]

I removed some obscure parts, written in poor English.

Quranic quote

[edit]

I changed the quotation from the appropriate Surah for this article to Abdullah Yusuf Ali's rendering, because the original rendering was unsourced, and also because Ali's version is fairly universally accepted amongst English-speaking Muslims today. I also endeavored to add additional material that would "flesh out" the article and created new section and subsection headers. - Ecjmartin (talk) 21:04, 26 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Qutb is not a scholar

[edit]

Why do people quote him and Maududi all the time? Qutb is not a qualified scholar of any of the Islamic studies, mcuh less a mufassir. Stop saying he is a scholar. A scholar must undergo studies under a qualified teacher and a certified madrassa and finally receive his Ijazah. Qutb did neither. Therefore, I am deleting his entry.

As for Maududi, is he a mufassir? From his bio on wiki, it describes him as receiving "religious education", but that is not enough. Did he receive an Ijazat or not? What fields of Islamic studies did he endeavor? Until there comes evidence of his qualification for interpreting the Qur'an I will not tolerate any entry of him supposedly being a scholar. Therefore, I will give time for someone to answer this for me since Maududi seems to be somewhat qualified. If no one is able to provide evidence, I will delete his entry. Also, I am going to put the interpretations into categories of Scholar and non Scholar. Malik Al Assad (talk) 04:30, 15 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
