LWN source

This is an excellent and comprehensive article on HarfBuzz that we should crib from heavily - David Gerard (talk) 12:33, 4 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Recent expansion work

[edit]

Did a few passes on this article recently. The first edit brought it closer to B-class (added refs, structured the History and Architecture sections). Looking at it after that edit though, the History section still read like a changelog -- "version X added Y, version Z added W." Second pass condensed that into a thematic narrative. This latest round adds the shaping-vs-layout distinction to the lead (which the "So what is harfbuzz?" thread above had been asking for since 2013), plus the adoption timeline and text-runs concept in Architecture. Sources are the Byfield LWN piece and Esfahbod's 2016 "10 Years of HarfBuzz" slides. Sparks19923 (talk) 04:16, 11 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
