Disposal of Whiteley's land

The account needs slight correction. This is as I recall, better sources are needed for the article.
Much of the land was turned into smallholdings which survived, despite some building and the intrusion of The Great Chertsey Road, until compulsory purchase after WWII for the Butts Farm Estate.--SilasW 14:55, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

Who was who?

The article says:

"... William the Conqueror granted Hanworth to Robert(‡1) under Roger de Montgomery, the Earl of Arundel. After his death(‡2), his(‡3) second son held the land until his(‡4) death in the Mowbray conspiracy of 1098, after which it passed to his(‡5) eldest son, Robert de Bellesme, who also rebelled against the Crown in 1102 with the result that the lands were confiscated." which is unclear:

• ‡1 Who was this Robert? Not otherwise mentioned.
• ‡2 Who died? Robert, Wm or Roger?
• ‡3 Who fathered the 2nd son? Wm, Robert, or Roger?
• ‡4 Presumably the second son's death.
• ‡5 Who begat Robert#2 the eldest son? Wm, Robert, Roger or the unnamed second son?

Nearest Train Stations?

Are these really the nearest? With Sunbury at 2.3 miles by road I think that Whitton (1.7) and Twickenham (2.1) are closer. How are we measuring, as the crow flies or shortest route on Google maps? AndrewJFulker (talk) 13:20, 21 November 2011 (UTC)
