This pages citatitions could use a more detailed source: which part of the Han Fei Tzu are they from? I'm no expert on this work, but the summary seems rather one-sided. ~Roel  Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.112.167.245 (talk) 20:36, 10 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned references in Han Feizi

[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Han Feizi's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "books.google.com":

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 22:39, 26 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Translation in French

[edit]

I am trying to translate this article in French, but I don't understand the sentence bold part:

Han binds their programs (to which he makes no judgement, apart from observances of the facts) to systematic reward and penalty (the "Two Handles"), fishing the subjects of the state by feeding them with interests.

Is it possible to say it in other words? --Dom (talk) 11:20, 5 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

I imagine you don't know english very well and are using google translate. He attracts subjects (people) with rewards.FourLights (talk) 19:09, 13 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

I know English very well and "fishing the subjects of the state by feeding them with interests" makes no sense to me either. ~2025-41801-82 (talk) 09:37, 25 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
I probably have a suitable source I can use to rewrite. I probably won't take forever to do it.FourLights (talk) 22:24, 26 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

returning

[edit]

I have plans to return soon and work on this page.FourLights (talk) 11:29, 2 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

I intend to add commentary Chapter 40 to the dating section. Chapter 40 could have been written by someone like a Han Fei from the late Hann state, so it would be a good commentary. It's a chapter recalled by Herrlee Creel, but also A.C. Graham, although he doesn't name it.FourLights (talk) 10:33, 21 March 2025 (UTC)Reply

Replacement introduction

[edit]

I will make a replacement introduction as requested, but it would probably just start as that of Yuri Pines to get it out of the way.FourLights (talk) 06:44, 1 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Unfortunately, the Pines chapters I am looking at will be more useful as a summary of some major points in the text than a philosophical introduction.FourLights (talk) 06:04, 25 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
After a search, I will default to a re-read of the Dao Companion to the philosophy of Han Fei.FourLights (talk) 09:07, 25 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
