three sources?
Hey, Eeeft, to make it easier for me to assess, can you tell me which three sources support a claim to notability? Many of the sources look like they might be bare mentions or routine business coverage -- for instance, the Forbes list and the NYT piece are bare mentions -- but I don't want to AfD without at least asking. Thanks! Valereee (talk) 13:11, 31 March 2025 (UTC)
- I've trimmed out the promotional stuff. From here on, you should edit via edit requests instead of directly. Valereee (talk) 13:50, 31 March 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you, Valereee. Source 1, source 2, and source 3 are listed here. In addition, this source from Business Insider is in-depth coverage. Eeeft (talk) 15:45, 31 March 2025 (UTC)
- This Vox source is also an in-depth and reliable source. Eeeft (talk) 16:16, 31 March 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks, Eeeft. I'm convinced it's notable. I'll point out that in Source 1, the largest portion of the discussion is The brand Halara is especially notorious for its targeted TikTok ads, which are so pervasive that some users can’t scroll through the app without encountering it. (At least one woman has made a TikTok begging Halara’s marketing team to stop bombarding her with ads.) And as annoying as Halara’s advertising strategy can be, it has been undoubtedly successful in generating attention and discourse around the brand’s bestselling item: the exercise dress. Is that really what your client wants? Because as I'm sure you know, paid contributions tend to attract significant hostile attention from Wikipedia's all-volunteer editing team. You aren't being paid to tell them that, I know, but if their marketing team is reading this: tell your bosses and your professional association that Wikipedia is not a great place to pay for placement. Hello, I propose updating the article in this way:
In the introduction, change "fast fashion direct-to-consumer women's apparel brand" to "athleisure brand".
This change is supported by the WWD article. Thank you for reviewing this request. Eeeft (talk) 15:15, 26 June 2025 (UTC)

Partly done: Hi @Sophiaa2025, I've changed apparel to athleisure, but I'm not comfortable removing the entire sentence without consensus from those who know the brand a bit better than me, I'd recommend pinging some past editors of the page (I noticed Valereee and Eeeft might be good people to ask!) if you'd like to request that. - @ValereeeHi Valereee, could I get your kindly look at this request? we have found more reliable sources to prove that Halara is not fast fashion brand. Sophiaa2025 (talk) 09:22, 16 September 2025 (UTC)
- Are you saying no one is calling this fast fashion? Athleisure and fast fashion are not mutually exclusive; athleisure is a product category, while fast fashion is a business model. That said, we can add that the product line is primarily athleisure. Which of the above sources is the most reliable that is saying that? Valereee (talk) 14:05, 16 September 2025 (UTC)

- Wikipedia doesn't actually care whether someone somewhere is calling it an active dress if the exact same item of clothing is more often called an exercise dress, which we already have an article for. If you're here because the brand would like to reposition this item of clothing as "not just for exercise", we don't do that here, it's not what we're about. You can find more information at WP:What Wikipedia is not. Valereee (talk) 14:03, 9 October 2025 (UTC)

- Halara has expanded its physical presence through pop-up shops in major U.S. markets. - Hey, @Sophiaa2025. So:
- The first mention from Refinery29, I'd probably take as indication the skirt was receiving coverage in RS, but it's a shopping link, and for a retail brand that makes me very cautious.
- The loyalty program is already mentioned in the article, what were you hoping to change?
- Ditto the popup coverage -- a lot of which is 404, maybe you can find better URLs? -- what is it exactly that you want to see covered? We aren't going to use language like "real-time feedback, consistent with The Halara Circle, the company's community-based product-testing initiative". We might say "has created popup shops" if RS support that. These all look like very iffy sources, could be paid for, which we won't use. PR Newswire, for instance, is not a RS.
- Valereee (talk) 20:59, 17 January 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Valereee,
- Thank you for the reply. You are absolutely right—some of the earlier links I provided were not sufficiently authoritative by Wikipedia's RS standards, and I appreciate the correction and the citations [22] and [25] Wikipedia has been cited to support the brand's 2025 physical expansion (pop-up shops) and the media coverage surrounding Taylor Swift wearing the brand part Sophiaa2025 (talk) 10:42, 23 January 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Valereee,
- Another part in marketing part, i am here to request for change. Could you help change the description "Halara markets heavily through social media, in particular TikTok, and has been noted by Vox for being "especially notorious" for its "annoying" and "pervasive" advertisements on the platform" to "Halara has grown its online presence by combining social media marketing with a community-based model"
- The description "especially notorious" for its "annoying" and "pervasive" advertisements tied to a very specific moment in their startup days rather than who they are now. These words have become somewhat outdated.[WIKI:Verifiabilty][WIKI:NPOV], more recent sources (like Ref [22] and [25]) also point out that the brand has grown into a pretty mainstream athleisure label, with physical stores in places like The Grove and Stanford Shopping Center, and more organic cultural visibility too (for example Taylor Swift being spotted wearing it at Coachella). The overall image today is pretty different from the early “aggressive ad” era.
- They also launched THC in 2025, which is a shift toward more community-driven efforts — getting real users involved in testing and feedback instead of just pushing high-frequency ads all the time.[source]
- So just a small request: it could be worth trimming some of the more loaded adjectives from 2021 and focusing a bit more on the current. It might better reflect where the brand is today. Sophiaa2025 (talk) 05:50, 2 February 2026 (UTC)
- I add a date to that content for context, but on a quick skim I don't see in either CSA or Refinery29 that Halara has changed marketing strategy from being social media heavy. I'm afraid both pieces also feel like they were written from a press release.
- FWIW, Wikipedia doesn't really care whether an article about a brand 'reflects where the brand is today'. That's for the brand's social media and web site and press releases to do. We look for reliable sources, and we summarize what those sources say. Valereee (talk) 13:26, 4 February 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Valereee
- Social media is only part of Halara's marketing strategy. In recent years, it has lots of offline campaigns. For example, "Halara Brings Customer Co-Creation to Life at New San Diego Pop-Up Experience" from Yahoo FinanceYahoo Finance and "Halara Takes California: Shop the Viral Brand IRL at Their First-Ever West Coast Pop-Up Experiences" from Benzinga Benzinga
- Also, for their social marketing, their strategy isn't "especially notorious" for its "annoying" and "pervasive" advertisements. They are focused on customer engagement and listen to customer voice. Social media provide a place for customers participate by giving feedback, answering questions, and sharing their experiences. Yahoo Finace has published "HALARA'S LATEST INITIATIVE - THE HALARA CIRCLE - TURNS THEIR CUSTOMERS INTO DESIGNERS" Yahoo Finance
- So the description "especially notorious" for its "annoying" and "pervasive" advertisements on the platform" is not proper, can you help change to "Halara has grown its online presence by combining social media marketing with a community-based model", or delete those description?
- Many thanks Sophiaa2025 (talk) 04:35, 6 February 2026 (UTC)
- Neither of those Yahoo pieces nor the Benzinga piece are reliable independent sources, they're all generated from press releases. They're what Halara would like to have said about Halara. They aren't what independent sources are saying. For any content about an organization that is even remotely non-factual, sources must be both reliable and independent. We can only use Halara as a source for things like date of founding and other nondisputable facts.
- The stuff in quotes are not scare quotes. Those are actual quotes from reliable sources. That is what Vox was saying in 2021: "The brand Halara is especially notorious for its targeted TikTok ads, which are so pervasive that some users can’t scroll through the app without encountering it. (At least one woman has made a TikTok begging Halara’s marketing team to stop bombarding her with ads.) And as annoying as Halara’s advertising strategy can be, it has been undoubtedly successful in generating attention and discourse around the brand’s bestselling item: the exercise dress."
- I'm sorry Halara isn't happy, but I did try to warn them, as you can see at this link to an earlier discussion.
- Halara has zero control over the Wikipedia article about it. Wikipedia summarizes what reliable sources have said. Valereee (talk) 12:37, 6 February 2026 (UTC)
