The tread belts of Thiokol machines (snowcats) are made of wide belts of reinforced rubber with extra large grousers that have a T section on one end designed to improve traction when moving sideways across a slope. The design permits the machine to "float" on top of the snow instead of sinking into the snowpack. --Mccainre (talk) 22:50, 22 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
