It's a software article: To some extend a lack of external references is natural. History and features of the software is described on its own website. Compare the LilyPond article: Just 5 external refs out of 24.

Clarification of early origins (2004, Abbey of Le Barroux)

Hello, I have added a clarification in the *History* section concerning the earliest phase of the Gregorio project. While the English article currently summarizes the beginning of Gregorio as a 2006 student project at Télécom Bretagne, primary project documentation and historical accounts indicate that the conceptual and typographic origin goes back to 2004 at the Abbey of Sainte-Madeleine du Barroux (France).

Br. Toussaint Menut, then a monk of that abbey, initiated a digital chant typography project (“Gregoria”) with the aim of automating neume alignment and chant notation in a typesetting environment. This idea, later carried over to the student project at Télécom Bretagne (under Yannis Haralambous and Élie Roux), became the software phase of *Gregorio*.

The supporting references used in the edit are:

These are self-published project documents but directly relevant to the subject, thus acceptable under WP:ABOUTSELF for factual, non-controversial material.

Further corroboration (in French) can be found on the French Wikipedia page “Projet Gregorio”, which lists Br. Toussaint Menut among the project founders.
