Why is "plants" tagged as clarification needed?

[edit]

What exactly is unclear about grass being "plants"? BD2412 T 17:18, 28 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

I've simplified it; hopefully not too much. Tony Holkham (Talk) 18:40, 28 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
I think we can provide a description of the point of commonality along the lines of "having narrow leaves, typically called blades, that grow directly from the ground or very close to the ground. BD2412 T 19:38, 28 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Expanding article

[edit]

Shouldn’t we have a section of uses of grass (egs. Cover plant) or a section of location (eg. Grassland, lawn) WikiGrower1 (talk) 01:24, 17 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

There seems to be significant overlap between this articles scope and this section of the article on the biological definition of grass. Perhaps some of the content could be borrowed/swapped around/linked (maybe moving the section on lawn uses here and making this the main article?) Joseph554 (talk) 13:58, 23 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Ideas for further sections

[edit]

I have some ideas on additional information that could fit in this article. I also think a distinction could be made for information about grass-like plants vs the the cultural significance and meaning. For grass-like plants, information could be added about the role of grass-like plants in forest succession, or the potential for nonnative grasses to become invasive. For culture, there could be information about grass in visual media, songs or books. Kestrel0 (talk) 06:20, 29 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
