Hey, I will be reviewing this. This looks interesting and I will be doing a proper review with thorough comments. However, so far two issues stand out to me:

1.) Due to there being a lot of images and the detailed captions, there is a lot of whitespace, which makes the page look untidy. WP:WHITESPACE recommends the use of a gallery to fix the issue, or perhaps the article can be expanded (perhaps with more information in the history section and/or a reception/international reactions section)?

2.) The "Cumulative medal count" section is completely unsourced.

DaniloDaysOfOurLives, I have switched the photos to a gallery format, which does look better in this case. This particular competition does not have the extensive history that some of the other competitions in the series have, which has allowed the photos to display nicely down the right-hand column. (See Grand Prix de France (figure skating), for example.)

As for the medal counts, they are simply a tabulation of the medal results listed in the article, which are sourced.

Hey, thank you so much for the gallery - it looks much better! It is nice to see you again too - I remember when we used to work on the OLTL too (seems like a lifetime ago now yet also feels like yesterday!) - Here is the full review :) It is a well written article and I just have the following comments:

Lead:

1.) "sanctioned by the International Skating Union (ISU)" - Could you please find another word for "sanctioned"? When I read it I assumed it meant "punished" and was confused and other readers may have the same thought if they don't know the other meaning of the word

2.) "The 2025 Finlandia Trophy is scheduled to be held 21–23 November in Helsinki" - I think this (with the ref) should be moved down to "History" and then it can be reworded in the lead (e.g. "the next trophy is scheduled for November 2025 in Helsinki")

• "Sanctioned" is the appropriate word and is used in all of these figure skating articles, including European Figure Skating Championships and World Figure Skating Championships, both of which have undergone FL vetting and no one has ever said anything about the use of that word. I did, however, move the information about the 2025 competition to the end of the history section. That widened the whitespace, so I also moved the photo gallery down. It's not ideal, but honestly, this is such a relatively new event, that it doesn't have the longer history section that some of the other GP events have. Bgsu98 (Talk) 18:49, 7 May 2025 (UTC)

History:

1.) Could you please make it clearer about the first paragraph's connection with the competition? Were all the ones from 1995 to 2017 hosted in China and then the Grand Prix of Finland replaced it? I was quite confused

• I did try to clarify better by expanding slightly in both the lead and those two paragraphs. Yes, China hosted GP events for years, but declined to in 2018 in order to prepare for the Olympics. As such, Finland agreed to stage a replacement competition. It would have been a one-off event, had Russia not been banned a few years later, and Finland again agreed to host a replacement competition (now as a permanent replacement). 2.) " Yuzuru Hanyu of Japan won the inaugural men's event, while Alina Zagitova of Russia won the women's event. Natalia Zabiiako and Alexander Enbert of Russia won the pairs event, and Alexandra Stepanova and Ivan Bukin, also of Russia, won the ice dance event" - Could you please make clear which year this was?

3.) Is there no other info about anything that happened between 2022 to now?

• The competitions happened and that's about it. The individual events rarely have anything noteworthy that warrants special mention. For example, the Grand Prix de France was interrupted in 2015 by the Paris terrorist attacks. COVID upended several competitions. Those all receive special mention. The French competition went through a rotation of sponsors, which is all documented. The Finnish competition has really been under the radar because none of the events have been marked by anything unique.

Other:

Is there any information regarding reception of the events, commercialisation, controversies etc?

• Not really. This particular series of skating competitions rarely makes mainstream media. The American event will occasionally make news in the U.S. if Ilia Malinin (or Nathan Chen, or whoever) does something extraordinary. Bgsu98 (Talk) 18:49, 7 May 2025 (UTC)

  Thank you for the changes - I have changed a few other things to make the wording etc look better. Spotchecked Sources #2, #5, #6 and #13. I have hidden the following statement - "Skaters earned points based on their results in their respective competitions and the top skaters or teams in each discipline were invited to compete at the Champions Series Final" - as the source next to it does not support the following information, it just has the list of the competitors. So if you want unhide it please do replace the source. However, everything else seems fine so I am going to pass this, well done :) DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 08:54, 8 May 2025 (UTC)

• The article is long enough, new enough (promoted to GA on 8 May), and well-written. The hook is good and supported by reliable citations. The picture is properly licenced and tagged. No QPQ needed as this is the first DYK nomination by the nominator. Basically, everything is fine. I wonder though, if it would be possible to include a short sentence in the article on the fact that no competition took place 2019-2022? It is implicit, and spelled out in the lists, but not mentioned in the prose text. It would give coherence to the narrative. Otherwise, this should be ready for the main page.
