Proposal to merge article with banknotes

There doesn't seem to be any meaningful difference between banknotes and government notes. The only source cited is Merriam-Webster (a primary source), who provided a seven-word summary with no historical precedence as to how this word isn't just an informal way of saying banknote.

The wiki article on the history of currency doesn't have a single mention of government note; neither could I find this as a formal term used in numistatics. There is no literature as to how those two words differ in meaning, so I suggest merging those two articles. Cubigrade (talk) 19:10, 5 February 2025 (UTC)
