Name

[edit]

The opening phrase of this article, "The Golden Comb (Ger. die Goldene Zange)", was edited to read "The Golden Comb (Ger. der Goldene Kamm)". This may be a more accurate translation, but it is not correct. the German name for this tactic was die Goldene Zange; the English name for it was "the Golden Comb" (which isn't a literal translation, but is a better description of how it works). Why the German name uses zange (which are tongs, or pliers, AFAIK) is unclear; there is a discussion here about it, which might shed some light on the matter. Lifted most of this from PQ 18, which contains much of the material in this article and is cited using these sources. Keith-264 (talk) 14:39, 1 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
