How can Puerto Rico be her homeland if she was born in NY?

I see some lack of things in teh article such as any references as to the citations on this material. Although it has some sections built into them, I'll try and put the article so that it is more logically and grammaticallly connected. How exactly did her record company "fall in love with her"? Was it the building, or all of the people inside? Are they jealous of the building? "A and R people at BMG Records believed in her talent" maybe?
