Change article title to Girlset

Multiple reliable, independent sources have reported on the name change, meeting Wikipedia’s sourcing standards. These include: The Korea Herald: Korea JoongAng Daily: Sports Chosun: News1: Hankyung:

Additionally, it is worth noting that Vcha has not been active under their old name for quite some time.

Regarding the Wikipedia guideline WP:SOON, which cautions against updating pages prematurely for events that have not yet happened, this situation does not apply here because the rebranding is already official, widely reported, and fully implemented across official channels. Therefore, it is appropriate to update the article now, without waiting for the group’s first release under the new name.

Per Wikipedia’s naming guideline WP:COMMONNAME, article titles and lead sections should reflect the name currently used in reliable sources. Since the rebranding is official and well-covered, waiting until the group’s first release under the new name is unnecessary. @Btspurplegalaxy: For name changes, from what I can tell, reliable sources need to report on the group using the new name outside of coverage of said name change. See failed move discussion on NewJeans & passed move discussion for Madein. The name change for I-dle on the other hand seems to me to not have actually followed WP:NAMECHANGES, as that policy states: "When this occurs, we give extra weight to independent, reliable, English-language sources ("reliable sources" for short) written after the name change. [emphasis mine]", yet there were no sources at the time that fell under that. Additionally, at least on Spotify and Apple Music, the group is still called VCHA. I think it's time to move it now. The group officially debuted today and released a single under their new name, they have a new Spotify page, Republic Records even opened their new website. Reputable news sources covered the single release Wekimekifan (talk) 19:41, 29 August 2025 (UTC)

Wait per the reasons I mentioned in the above thread. Per the WP:NAMECHANGES policy: "When [a name change] occurs, we give extra weight to independent, reliable, English-language sources ("reliable sources" for short) written after the name change. If the reliable sources written after the change is announced routinely use the new name, Wikipedia should follow suit and change relevant titles to match. [all emphasis mine]". The message initiating the RM has not yet shown that other than the Forbes article which was written right after the group re-debuted. @Wekimekifan, I would bring more sources that use the new name. WP:NAMECHANGES also mentions applying WP:COMMONSENSE. There is nothing controversial about this rebrand, unlike the NewJeans case you mentioned in the thread above where there was a lawsuit between the members of the group and the company at the time of the name change. In this case, rebrand was a mutual decision between members and the companies (both JYPE and Republic). The user in the thread above also listed more reliable sources confirming that rebrand happened. In the previous thread, you also mentioned Spotify and Apple Music, which have since released their new song under their new name, and links are included in my RM. @Wekimekifan: It’s not just NewJeans. Kanye West isn’t at Ye, and other artist rebrands usually aren’t automatically moved. It doesn’t matter if there’s controversy or not, and there is no harm in waiting. Also in the above thread, the user has not provided reliable sources that fall under WP:NAMECHANGES. They all talk about the name change, but they do not show usage of the new name after the name change, which is my main point. AG202 (talk) 06:40, 6 September 2025 (UTC)

Kanye West uses his full name on streaming platforms, and his Twitter handle is @ kanyewest, and these are the kinds of things you highlighted as important in the thread above. Now that the group has changed their name to "Girlset" across all platforms and even received some credible media coverage (keeping in mind they're not nearly as famous as Kanye West and don’t get the same level of attention), it’s a bit confusing that you’re still asking for more proof. • Wait. To be crude, if they do not release any more music, will they be remembered as Vcha or as Girlset? In my opinion, looking at the history of their management, and at the budget of their new single, I think it is possible that they will not be more notable as Girlset than Vcha for a while at least - if their label shelves them again, I think it's more likely that they'll be referred to as Vcha in the long term.   I don’t think keeping the name Vcha is appropriate. The group no longer uses it, and it wouldn’t provide any benefit, which was the point of their rebranding. Vcha likely wouldn’t be remembered for long, and using the old name could confuse new readers. You have to think long-term: for example, (G)I-dle had their original name since 2018 but eventually rebranded fully to I-dle and did not keep their original name. wouldn’t it make more sense for the group to have its own separate page instead of combined with vcha’s wiki? the groups music platforms are seperate and they refer to themselves as a new group. it just feels overcomplicated. ~2025-32650-56 (talk) 17:22, 11 November 2025 (UTC)
