Why Germanium?

[edit]

Why is germanium preferable in this application compared to carbon or silicon? What are its "novel properties"? 16:58, 16 September 2014 (UTC)

Miller Indices

[edit]

Miller indices only make sense with use of crystal structure information. Gold and silver, which were used in deposition of germanium as base, both have fcc structure in room temperature. This information should also be provided, otherwise it doesn't have much sense to provide growth direction with Miller indices. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.101.140.163 (talk) 03:04, 19 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
