At the bottom of the Music section can somebody add that Gerard Way contributed screamed vocals to the song Rōnin, released in March 28, 2022 by the black metal band Ibaraki? Source: https://www.nme.com/news/music/triviums-matt-heafy-shares-new-ibaraki-single-ronin-featuring-gerard-way-3191688
(Note: the above is not an April fools joke, Ibaraki is Trivium frontman Matt Heart’s black metal project) 2604:2D80:9801:E900:E0B8:C995:2526:95E4 (talk) 20:32, 1 April 2022 (UTC)

please do idk how to edit or get someone to edit it but it has GOT to be changed especially now that hes lost weight and is back in business again, man deserves to have a more current and flattering picture up here Dtcalles (talk) 19:49, 25 July 2022 (UTC)

- @Dtcalles @Skierstonks25 Unfortunately most photos that are available have license restrictions that make them unsuitable for Wikipedia - you can read more in Wikipedia's Image Use Policy, but in short, they have to be public domain or something like CC-BY-SA - critically, they cannot have restrictions on commercial use, which most of the photos that are cc-licensed do. I just looked through Flickr and Google Images and didn't find any suitable photos that are freely licensed and more recent than the ones we're already using.
- If you know of recent photos that have free licenses, or know of suitable photos taken by someone who might be willing to release a photo under CC-BY-SA, please do let us know! We would LOVE to have a more recent photo, but unfortunately most photographers place restrictions on their photos, which makes it difficult to find one that Wikipedia can use. The Human Spellchecker (talk) 21:38, 22 September 2022 (UTC)
- I have some photos you can have for free. Please let me know how to send them to you. I took them myself so there are no restrictions and I don’t care to license or sell them. 67.87.221.89 (talk) 20:59, 12 April 2024 (UTC)

To change the main image to Gerard in 2022 Belindalauren (talk) 01:31, 7 August 2022 (UTC)
Not done: please be specific about the changes to be made to the article. I assume you're referring to this image, which would probably be more appropriate in the Music career section rather than in the infobox. It is also nominated for deletion on Commons as a result of licensing issues, so I will not add it at this time. PlanetJuice (talk • contribs) 02:28, 7 August 2022 (UTC)

Untitled
[edit]Dear Wikipedia Support Team,
I hope you are doing well.
I am writing to respectfully request a review and possible update of the current Wikipedia photo of Gerard Way in a particularly professional or representative way, and it may unintentionally contribute to negative assumptions about his personal well-being. As a public figure who has openly addressed past struggles, it would be more appropriate and respectful to use a photo that reflects him in a healthier, more composed, and professional manner.
I kindly suggest considering replacing the current image with one where he appears in better condition, even if the photo is not very recent. A more suitable image would better honor his career, public image, and personal journey.
Thank you for your time and for the important work you do in maintaining accurate and respectful information.
Kind regards. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ~2026-18735-18 (talk) 19:33, 26 March 2026 (UTC)
- Firstly, to clear any misconceptions, there is no "Wikipedia Support Team", we're all volunteer editors.
- With that being said, I'm not fully sure what the concerns with the image at present is. He's doing what he and the band is famous for: performing. Would an image of him not in his Black Parade attire be preferred? Yeah, I think that's a reasonable judgment to make. However, images of living persons must be public domain and uploaded onto Wikimedia Commons; this is policy. Sadly, Gerard Way and the members of My Chemical Romance have quite a limited selection of newer images (i.e. less than a decade old) that are freely available and look good. Even the image we used prior to this one wasn't exactly the most flattering .
- So, for what it is, I think the current image is fine. λ NegativeMP1 20:46, 26 March 2026 (UTC)
