Georgetown confusion

There is a historical marker for Georgetown, along route 213 just south of the Cecil County border. PLEASE NOTE THIS which I have written about that marker:
It has come to my attention that there is another Georgetown in Kent County, about due west of Chestertown and near Chesapeake Bay and Tolchester Beach. On THIS marker, a tract called Tolchester is mentioned, thus creating a question about the extent of such tract. Both Georgetowns of Kent County, Maryland have wikipedia entries; do not confuse them with the Georgetown which became part of Washington DC.

Georgetown (CDP), Maryland → Georgetown CDP, Maryland – WP:NATURAL. With there being two non-overlapping Georgetowns in the same county of a small state, identifying this one as the CDP seems fundamental to identifying what the topic is, rather than being just some side commentary to distinguish this from a distant context. Within this article and its cited sources, the term "Georgetown CDP" is used consistently, which seems appropriate. —⁠ ⁠BarrelProof (talk) 16:40, 28 July 2025 (UTC)

• Oppose as the current title follows another one of those 'non-WP:NATURAL' conventions stated in the WP:USPLACE guidelines: If more than one place within the same county has the same name, specify the type of local government unit in parentheses before the comma, for any article that is not the primary topic, such as Callicoon (CDP), New York, Adams (CDP), Massachusetts, Chevy Chase (CDP), Maryland, and scores of other similar articles. While the usage of "[settlement] CDP" may be used in official US Census and other federal government sources, explicitly using "CDP" in that manner may not be commonly used as a consistent convention across the country in non-federal, state and local sources, hence the parentheses. I suppose that might sink the suggestion, but I'll leave it open for now in case someone else has a comment about it. Insisting on parentheses seems like a mistake to me. —⁠ ⁠BarrelProof (talk) 23:59, 28 July 2025 (UTC)

There are some who say WP:USPLACE is "a mistake", but, like always, those guidelines itself should be discussed directly instead of having a single RM targeting only one of the affected articles. Zzyzx11 (talk) 12:43, 29 July 2025 (UTC)
