Names confusion

Name Change

Possible source

I've found R. Michael Gordon's The American Murders of Jack the Ripper and he has an interesting timeline on Chapman here on page 187. There is a good bit on Chapman preceding this section but this serves as a nice summary. Is this a possible source? I'm not familiar with the author and uncertain how much weight to give this. Anyone want to be bold and use this?

Poland?

Poland was non-existent in 1865. There was however ethnic Poles within the boundaries of the Russian, German/Prussian, and Austrian empires. So which empire was he born a citizen of?
