Next to Dumbarton Oaks are the well manicured gardens and park like surroundings of Oak Hill Cemetery, resting place for many of Washington's famous and finest. The original owner of the tract upon which the cemetery is now located was Eliza Beall, wife of George C. Washington, grandnephew of our first president. About a hundred yards from where R Street makes an abrupt turn south past Dumbarton House there stands off a tree shaded curved lane lot No.754 where the remains of George Beall (1695 - 1780), son of Ninian Beall and the founder of Georgetown, his wife Elizabeth and son George (1729 - 1807) are buried. Although not confirmed by other sources, cemetery records indicate that Colonel Ninian Beall is buried on site 4 of lot 754, having been moved there from the private burial ground between two large Beall houses on Gay Street (now N Street) in Georgetown. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.218.220.180 (talk) 17:42, 23 July 2011 (UTC)

Elizabeth Brooke
