George Addison Cox is independently notable for his engineering achievements and contribution to nineteenth-century Scottish industry.
It follows existing Wikipedia articles such as Camperdown Works, which already references George Addison Cox.
The purpose is to record the life and significance of George Addison Cox a qualified engineer/architect and industrialist, under whose direction the entire control of developing the the giant 30 acre Camperdown Works in Lochee, Dundee, Scotland, was given. A 1911 history of Lochee wrote In each department the impress of a master mind is apparent – in construction, attention to detail, and in the productive power of appliances.”[1]. The outcome at its peak, the world’s largest Jute factory, is of historical significance and example of manufacturing advances during the Industrial Revolution in Scotland. Today, Cox’s Stack remains Scotland’s tallest industrial chimney and one of Dundee’s most recognisable landmarks.
