GA Reassessment

[edit]

In order to uphold the quality of Wikipedia:Good articles, all articles listed as Good articles are being reviewed against the GA criteria as part of the GA project quality task force. While all the hard work that has gone into this article is appreciated, unfortunately, as of September 23, 2008, this article fails to satisfy the criteria, as detailed below. For that reason, the article has been delisted from WP:GA. However, if improvements are made bringing the article up to standards, the article may be nominated at WP:GAN. If you feel this decision has been made in error, you may seek remediation at WP:GAR.

  • There are several dead links, including the main one given in the infobox.
  • This article seems to be about a one-off event that took place in 2006, not about the "Geography Cup" in general. Either the title is wrong, or the article does not adequately cover its subject.
  • Tenses seem to be all over the place: "The Geography Cup was sponsored by A Broader View ... It is also sponsored by ...". "The Geography Cup is an online, international competition ..."
  • The article contains far too many very short paragraphs.
  • What has been the impact of the 2006 event? What are the chances of the event ever being run again?
  • I don't believe that this article adequately covers its major topics even when considering only the 2006 event.
