Geographical centre of Earth

[edit]

Until I changed it just now (to redirect to this article instead) Geographical centre of Earth (and Geographical center of Earth) redirected to Charles Piazzi Smyth. Why? Because that article quotes him as declaring the Great Pyramid of Giza to be the geographical centre of the world's land masses:

Smyth claimed to have calculated that "there is more land-surface in the Great Pyramid's general parallel of 30°, than in any other" and that "on carefully summing up all the dry land habitable by man the wide world over, the centre of the whole falls within the Great Pyramid's special territory of Lower Egypt."[1]

Is there nothing better? --𝕁𝕄𝔽 (talk) 14:38, 13 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

There was, but it went down the memory chute. ~2026-27799-3 (talk) 20:16, 13 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
